the nuts and bolts

This website is a combination of static HTML pages and dynamic blog entries. The site was designed and built by the Brown Wing Studio. The dynamic pages are built on a lovely, elegant CMS (Content Management System) called Chyrp. For a few horrible hours when I was conceiving of this project I thought I might have to attempt to write my own CMS to get the sort of simple, elegant platform I envisioned. Many thanks to the Chryp team for saving me the pain and suffering.

vitzy.com, a history

This domain has always been my great experiment. First it was my original attempt at building a website. Then it was my personal space for thoughts and heckling my friends. Next it became a foray into professional web design and development. When that project matured into the Brown Wing Studio, vitzy.com was free again and I no idea what to do with it. I tried writing a blog in the voice of a fictional caged gerbil. That didn't end up being quite as compelling as I might have hoped, though I haven't given up entirely. You can read that over here.

 

Beyond design, my other creative outlet is writing. I've written (but not published) five full-length novels and loads of short stories and I have long attempted to find a way to connect these two things I do. So, in short, vitzy.com has become a place where fiction meets web development. I'm not sure what's going to happen next.
